APOCYNUM ANDROSAEMIFOLIUM

Apocynum androsaemifolium L., Sp. Pl: 213 (1753). [HPI :III].

Cynopaemaandrosaemifolium(L.) Lunell, Amer. Midl. Naturalist 4: 509 (1916).

Perennial herbs. Up to 100 cm. Leaves simple, opposite, ovate, mucronate, 2.5 to 8 cm long, acute, pinnately veined; stipules absent. Flower in Cymose, terminal or axillary. Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, Pinkish white, bell shaped; Stamens 5; disc ring like or cup-shaped, 2–5-lobed; Ovaries superior; Style 1; pistil head capitate, conical, or lampshade-shaped. Fruit consists of slender follicles, endosperm thick and often horny, scanty.
