Deciduous shrub to small tree, brown bark in irregular flakes. Leaves simple, opposite, pinnately veined; exstipulate, thin glabrous. Inflorescence Cymose, terminal. Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic; Calyx 5, quincuncial, each with basal glands; Corolla 5- or rarely 4-lobed; Stamens 5; Filaments short; Pollen granula; Ovary superior; Style; pistil capitate,stigmatic. Fruit follicle. Seeds with coma; endosperm thick, cotyledons large.
